Lee Harris, River Styx, and Sean Williams, who participated in the Paris events celebrating the 50th anniversary of Naked Lunch, have offered up an mp3 titled “Hunterland,” an experimental ambient homage to William Burroughs and Naked Lunch. The track makes use of the cut-up method and was completed in the last weeks of the 50th anniversary of Naked Lunch.

New York Schedule Update

The schedule for the New York homage has been updated with information regarding the events to take place October 7-9. These include an inaugural event at St Mark’s Poetry Project on October 7, a panel at New York University on October 8, a conference and exhibit at Columbia University on October 9, and an evening of films and performaces at School of Visual Arts on October 10.

Graham Rae to Speak on Burroughs and General Semantics

Graham Rae will be giving a talk at the Institute for General Semantics’ annual conference titled “General Semantics Meets Experimental Literature: The Lifelong Effect of Alfred Korzybski on William S. Burroughs.” The talk, which draws on his General Semantics article for nakedlunch.org, will take place on 11 September 2009, 9:30 AM, at Leon Lowenstein Hall, 113 West 60th Street in New York. In addition to the festivities in Paris in July 2009, in October 2009 there will be three days of celebratory activity in New York to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the publication of William S. Burroughs’ Naked Lunch. The activities will include discussions, talks, exhibitions, performances, and readings. Here is a rough outline of the forthcoming New York festivities — and there ought to be more to come.
